Ulyana Sergeenko is a Russian fashion fairy tale. A porcelain skin beauty from a small town who dreams about fashion and has a lust to acquire the beautiful 'things' then marries a billionaire enabling her to be one of the heavy hitting clients of every major fashion house. Not long after Sergeenko became a streetstyle sensation, coinciding with the rise of the "Russian dolls" - a term used to refer to the clique or Russian streetsyle stars that have been taking the fashion world by storm, including Miroslava Duma, Vika Gazinskaya and lena Perminova.
Photographers were flocking to Ulyana's flamboyance like moths to a flame. Her patrimonial soviet style mixed with old Hollywood glam quickly became a 'look' that was copied by many in the industry. Sergeenko found herself asking designers to tweak or even create certain looks for her that were later used by said designers in their collections and runways without giving due credit, this sparked frustration in Sergeenko and somehow paved the way for her own namesake label to be created.
Armed with confidence in her own ideas and style, backed up by her childhood experience in making clothes which she was taught by her grandma, led Sergeenko to venture into the world of Couture.in less than two years her burgeoning label found its way to Paris Fashion week and into the wardrobes of many enthusiastic clients around the world responding to her unique and standout pieces.
Her 2014 couture show was met with favorable critique from editors and has further implanted her position as a label that is here to stay. Sergeenko's aesthetic is one that I expect will have a place in fashion history crowning the soviet heritage while melding it with modern references and inspirations from her favorite designers such as John Galliano. She might just be Russia's answer to a local style icon. Their very own Audrey Hepburn and a modern day Cinderella.
She then lived a very fashionably happy ever after.

And a look at some of her Spring 2014 Couture, which in my opinion was her real strong debut:
